Monisha Kaltenborn has returned to motorsport by establishing her own Formula 4 squad. Kaltenborn was previously the team principal of the Sauber F1 team but lost her role during the 2017 season.
Together with Emily di Comberti, a French-Monegasque entrepreneur, she has set up KDC Racing and plans to race in the German Formula 4 championship this year. KDC stands for Kaltenborn di Comberti, the surnames of the owners. The team is racing under a Swiss license and has its base in Granollers, near the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona.
"Motorsport is and will remain my greatest passion", Kaltenborn told Auto Bild. "For almost twenty years, I have held leading positions in motorsport, so it is only logical that I continue.
"Formula 4 is a relatively new series, an exciting racing class that I see a lot of potential in. Especially in the field of developing young talents, which appeals to me. In Formula 4, you can already see which drivers have the making of a future champion.
"As a co-owner, I have a decisive voice in the strategy of the team, and my priority is to prepare young drivers for a future in motorsports. My years of Formula 1 experience come in handy. The day-to-day business is led by our team manager Josep Trinidad, whom we place great trust in."
Kaltenborn also confirmed that there are more plans in the pipeline, but it is too early to discuss them. She also added that the drivers for the Formula 4 team will be announced very soon, now that she has got main sponsors on-board.

Indeed. It's was incredible what they did with Sauber. For someone with her background in law it was indeed an very strange scenario. Not sure if it was all her fault but she was in charge at the time. You have to wonder how much they got away with before they got caught out.
It's too bad she destroyed her reputation in Formula 1. What she did was absolutely disgusting and I celebrated her being fired (although it took too long)
