Toro Rosso has confirmed that it will be Brendon Hartley and Pierre Gasly in the car for the Mexican Grand Prix. There was confusion amongst the F1 paddock over who will step down once Gasly returned from his duties in the Super Formula finale in Japan, but it is now clear that Hartley will be the one to step in the car and not Daniil Kvyat.
The news surely comes as a crushing blow for Kvyat who despite scoring points on his return to the team in Austin has been dropped for the third time in 18 months by Red Bull, in what is surely the end of his F1 career for the time being. However equally Hartley will be certain to grab his opportunity to impress the team with both hands.
Ok, Im not a fan of Kvyat, far from it, the guy hasn't impressed. But this treatment from Marko... it doesn't sit right with me.
Had Red Bull been had some other driver ready last year when they demoted Kvyat I don't think he would have been racing this year at all. The fact he even got a renewed contract for this year with Toro Rosso seemed overly generous
I cannot say Im sad to see Kvyat go. I was never impressed by him, and Vergne were far more deserving of that RB seat IMO. Will be interesting to see how good the new sugarchildren will perform. But bloody hell, Marko. You really cannot do or say anything without being a proper dick about it. And this comes from someone who makes his living by forcing heartsick patients to cycle as fast as they can on an exercise bike!
DK loads of time to impress, I would not have signed him again this year, he's had his chance and more it's time for BH to get his chance, as you can see BH wants it badly and deserves the break more than DK
