Lance Stroll has confirmed that Williams is working on its 2018 project as it targets to move back up the order. So far, 2017 has been a mediocre year for the Grove-based squad, with the exception of a third place finish coming at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix at the hands of Stroll himself.
This year, Williams was targeting reclaiming fourth place in the standings after the team lost that battle in a season long fight with Force India last season. However, since Australia, it seems that Force India are the leaders of the midfield pack, as they are 54 points ahead of Williams who sit one place behind in the standings.
Williams has claimed 51 points less than they did at the same stage last season, a statistic the team is not proud of. Stroll admitted that the team is indeed working on its 2018 project heading towards the summer break: "Calm down -- let's go step by step," the Canadian laughed in Hungary.
"At the moment I am focused on this championship and on my development. It is true that there are a group of fantastic people who have arrived at our team, such as Paddy (Lowe) and they're already working on the 2018 project. I believe we have a very strong group capable of producing a very competitive car."
