Heading to the Hungarian Grand Prix this weekend, Williams' Lance Stroll is looking forward to the 11th race of the 2017 Season. The Hungaroring will mark the third circuit in a row that Stroll has driven on, having raced there in 2016 when competing in the European Formula 3 Series.
The Hungaroring is a circuit that brings back good memories for the young Canadian: "This will be the third track in a row where I have raced before, and so I know what to expect. I was there last year in Formula 3 and had a podium position, so have some good memories."
Talking about the circuit, Stroll continued: "I think it is a great track, although, like Monaco, it is very narrow with lots of corners and not so many straights. Having said that, it is a track I like a lot, and that especially goes for the middle sector which is quite fast with a lot of left and right turns. It has been resurfaced recently, so the track is smooth. All in all it is a great circuit and Budapest is a cool city where I have had some fun."
So far this season, Stroll has had a mixed set of results, struggling at the start with three consecutive retirements. Despite having reasonably competitive machinery in the Williams FW40, it took Stroll seven races to finish inside the points, with his first points being secured at his home race in Canada. Since then, the Canadian has had two further points finishes, one of which was a podium finish in Azerbaijan.
Following a disappointing weekend in Silverstone, Stroll will once again be looking to finish inside the points and head into F1's mid-season break on a high note, especially with the Hungaroring being a familiar track to him. Being only five points adrift from his team mate, Felipe Massa, a large haul of points this weekend could see Stroll jump the Brazilian in the Drivers' Championship.
