Arrivabene: "Ferrari tyre failure blame obvious"

Ferrari team principal Maurizio Arrivabene thinks it is obvious who can take the blame for the team's tyre failures at the British Grand Prix. In the dying laps of the race, both Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel suffered punctures, causing them both to come in and change tyres.

It was suggested that Ferrari's set-up combined with the high downforce produced by the 2017 cars was the cause of the failure, but Arrivabene has his own ideas: "Although the reasons to us are obvious, it is not Ferrari's style to complain about losing a second and fourth place," he is quoted by Bild newspaper.

Pirelli confirmed that it is looking into the issue and come away with an explanation. Both failures are expected to be from different problems, but it will not be clear until the tests are finished: "We are investigating," Pirelli chief Mario Isola said. "The tyres will be sent to Milan and studied and we also need to see more setup data by the teams."

Vettel was running in third before his issues but dropped to seventh when he had to complete half a lap with a puncture and venture into the pitlane. He now sits only one point ahead of rival Hamilton in the standings and hasn't won a race since Monaco.

"There is no reason for panic or concern," said Vettel. "The last races were not quite as good, but I think we cannot forget how far away we were last year. It is true that Mercedes was stronger in the last races, but I think the biggest problem for us is qualifying. At the same time we have a fast car and once we work on a few things, it could be a different picture again."

That'd be Red Bull.

  • Ferrari have been saying this since the start of the season. No one will achieve parity with Mercedes or their PU. NO penalties will be awarded to Mercedes and their leading drivers because of vested interests at play to engineer another title to Mercedes. In the past Ferrari had this kind of clout with the FIA, you can bet the Mercedes is not a legal car in certain grey areas of the regulations for a few years now but that doesn't matter F1 circus follows the money and it is lucrative to make Mercedes the winner at the moment. Eventually that will vane and the cash cow will be some team else, like Redbull was for a period of time prior.

    • Tin foil hat.

Your analysis is laughable, especially considering the kind of leniency shown to Vettel as recent as a couple of weeks ago. Ferrari still gets more money than anyone else in the championship whether they win or not. Ferrari has the most fans. You are clueless.

    • Oh another moron spotted, too many dimwits without thinking power watching F1 these days. Vettel gets penalized for aggression while Turdshit gets out scottfree after slowing down and breaking hard before the SCD line, FIA's own graphics showed Hamilton braking yet FIA claims no wrong doing, even without a brake test the slow down was too obvious for anyone to see from the closing speeds of the cars behind him. That was reckless driving by the Mercedes pos. Yet when it came to punishments Vettel gets the stick for taking the turdshit to task by himself because FIA sure weren't going to do jack about it. Same thing in the British GP, the whiner blocks Grosjean blatantly yet gets to walk away without even a reprimand. Only a blinkered dipshit will not see the problem with either of those.

You are even more clueless than you appears to be, Ferrari doesn't even need F1 revenue to run it's F1 program, they are a pro-business outfit, their main revenue stream is from the production of sports cars and merchandise they sell all by themselves. LOL what an idiot to even suggest that F1 fans help their bottom line. F1 fans are helping only scum like Bernie get rich not the teams. Here is something for you to learn pleb, this will come as a total surprise to you but what teams like Ferrari earn is not even enough to cover their engine program's development cost for the year ahead by even 1/3rds, let alone the chassis and here you claim Ferrari make more money. That's just a privilege they negotiated way back but it hardly makes any difference to their bottom line for the F1 operations. Of course business understanding failed fools like you wont know this.

Wow this is brilliant Mclarenfan, you obviously have such a deep down hatred for Merc and Lewis oh and any one that dares to disagree with you.
Your tirades of abuse and name calling are stupendous, and your twisting of facts to suit your own agenda know no bounds.
Please keep up the good work, you are so entertaining in a pathetic way, chin up and watch the blood pressure.

    • Au Contraire Mon Capitan, it seems you are triggered enough to post a reply to me trololo! Good going and keep em coming. Besides other than merely stating a fallacy over and over again you have not one point as a counter to anything I have succinctly raised point by point. Figures, Merc fanbois are some of the dumbest humans around.

Has there ever been a team that complains more about everything?

      Can´t agree on that point.
From a press-releases perspective it´s always Merc at the time who are badmouthing, claiming etc.
Think about Baku: No one at Ferrari accused Hamilton directly in press after the incident whereas Merc´s official people were on full throttle afterwards.

And calle is also right, RedBull is complaining alot since those new engine regulations..

So all in all i think it is definitely not Ferrari who are constantly using the press for complaining, badmouthing etc and so on..

    • I'd still say Ferrari is in the top 3, but I think Red Bull trump them. Its not as much nowadays, but they used to be quite alot louder, not a trait I miss from them. Even before the hybrid era, Red Bull could throw quite a few nasty comments on others, and regrettably that trait has only grown, like a tumurous growth or an onion, ready to burst and throw tearforming liquids everywhere. Mercedes... its like there are two teams in one. Lauda certainly tend to do some decent amount of badmouthing, as do Mr.Hamilton, but the rest of the team tend to be quite neutral.

Bassically EVERY team has a whinge when they have points taken away that was not of their doing and some wont admit it if it was their doing. Blame is easier to deal with than acceptance. Tyres fail sometimes, especially after a long stint of hard abuse. Get over it and move on!!!!
