Toto Wolff believes that there are three or four teams that will be competitive in Baku this weekend after seeing the proceedings of the first two practice sessions. Red Bull emerged as fastest in both sessions, with Max Verstappen claiming the top spot on both occasions.
Ferrari and Mercedes seemed relatively behind Red Bull but will be expected to catch up by the time Saturday qualifying comes around. Also look strong is Force India, who got in the mix throughout the two practice sessions.
"This time around in Baku it seems that three or four teams are pretty competitive. You can see in the long runs, so it's important to be in the front in qualifying."
One man who appeared to struggle a lot today was three-time world champion, Lewis Hamilton. The Brit looked to be very disgruntled after both sessions after failing to get clean runs. Wolff is confident that Hamilton can improve before Saturday's qualifying session.
"I think you need to get into a rhythm in Baku, do laps to gain confidence and have the tyres in the right window," he said. "We had a bit of a messy session, a lot of traffic, a lot of yellow flags and we didn't put him out at the right time."
