Despite looking ready to get back to action, doubt still remains over Pascal Wehrlein and his pre-season prospects. At Barcelona, the German said that he would be taking part in the second week of testing after being sidelined for week one due to a hefty crash at the Race of Champions.
"I haven't had any pain for a long time," he said. "The next doctor's decision will be at the weekend in Zurich. I hope they will say that everything is fine and I can be back in the car."
He has also denied the possibility that he could miss the first race of the season in Melbourne due to a disruption in his training regime: "I'm not bedridden," Wehrlein insisted. "I'm still training. And by the time of the race of champions, I had already gained five kilograms of muscle. Health is the most important thing. I rely completely on the doctors' advice."
Team principal of Sauber says that they will be looking at his condition before deciding on whether they will tack him to the car or not: "We will monitor his medical progress and then decide on the next steps," said Kaltenborn.
