Brendon Hartley says that he has unfinished business in Formula 1 following his Toro Rosso exit. The Red Bull junior squad confirmed on Tuesday that Alexander Albon would partner Daniil Kvyat at the team in 2019.
Hartley joined the outfit towards the end of the 2017 season, but has had a tough stint in the series. This season, he has scored three top ten finishes but has been out-performed by teammate Pierre Gasly, who scored 29 of Toro Rosso's 33 points.
Hartley says that he still has things to achieve in F1: "I left the circuit on Sunday with my head held high. I’m very proud of my story and journey so far, but am left feeling I have unfinished business in F1," Hartley said.
"For the moment that has been put on hold. I’ve hit speed bumps before and I am a strong believer that tough situations make you stronger, it also helps that I have a great New Zealand support crew, family, friends and wife."
Hartley added that he wanted to thank "almost all" of the members of the Toro Rosso team: "I also want to thank my trainer Rich and almost all of the 500 strong Toro Rosso staff who I have stood beside and have enjoyed working with this season, all of the engineering team, the mechanics, marketing, PR, logistics, hospitality crew, factory staff and of course all at Honda racing.
"I really do appreciate the support I have received from fans across the globe this year, I still have plenty more pages to write in my story and will make the most of the opportunities in the next chapter."

Good enough to be in F1? Definitely. But he didn't have any true standout performances, and Toro Rosso has fired much more impressive drivers before (e.g. Vergne). I really like Hartley though. I would have loved for him to be great. Maybe he can land a reserve role somewhere?
