Ocon hits out at 'unprofessional' Verstappen

Esteban Ocon says that Max Verstappen acted unprofessionally post-race, in which the latter confronted Ocon with physical contact. Verstappen was upset following the pair's on-track collision, which cost him the race victory.

Verstappen was building up a gap to second place Lewis Hamilton who was on older and harder tyres. The Dutchman lapped the Ocon who was on fresh super soft tyres they but the Force India driver wanted to un-lap himself as he felt he had a pace advantage.

As they went side by side into the first corner, contact was made, with both spinning out. After the race, Verstappen was spotted confronting Ocon as they were being weighed, pushing the Frenchman several times. Ocon has blasted his former rival for his actions, saying that it doesn't send out a good message to young fans watching.

“It was violent and unprofessional behaviour,” Ocon said. “The FIA had to stop him. If not, he would probably have punched me, but that probably would have been a good thing as everyone would have seen it. That’s not the way you should behave as a professional driver.

“Just after the race, there is emotion, I can understand that, but you can speak, you don’t need to come with hands basically. The fights have to happen on-track. We are sportsmen, we represent a lot of young kids, a lot of people in front of TV. If that was filmed today, it would be massive news. For me that is not right.

“The rules say you are allowed to unlap yourself if you are faster, so that’s what I did on the second lap, I saw I had massive pace, I went around the outside, the same move I’d done on Fernando [Alonso] and many other drivers coming from last in the first lap. It didn’t happen the same way in the corner after that.”

The video proofs otherwise, nothing happened. Left handed hand off followed by other on. Little bit of handbags, trying to make something more of nothing.

He's such an wimp.

Verstappen would have taken 3rd win this season and would take over 4th place in the championship. Makes lot of difference and perhaps more plausable why he reacted like this

Ocon handed Lewis another cheap victory, C'mon he is also a Mercedes driver, after Bottas a couple of times now this. Toto and Lewis should not celebrate. But Lewis is a narcissist out of control with himself. For sure Max deserves to win today so much better than anybody if only the Honda engine next year get a bit more HP pff nobody stops Max, the best driver on the grid and not like Lewis & Seb. in the best car. I really enjoyed the race today as i did the last race, the best driver on the grid show his balls.
Hopefull its the end of the boring F1 processions from the past, Lewis on pole in the best car of course, Bottas the sad wingman blocking stopping everybody, Ferrari at least desperate trying (the best car according Lewis) behind again and again. Go Max 2019!

Ocon followed Mercedes orders, like he did in Monaco, when he let Lewis pass. He wasn't even lapped there. He knows exactly what to do to "help". The last thing any driver would like to do is taking out the leader. Everyone would be ashamed after such a move. Not this guy! He was actually smiling, provoking Max and enjoying it, while he played the victim.

Who would act like this? Only someone who knows that he will be rewarded for it (afterwards behind closed Mercedes doors).

I hope we have to see him one more time and never again.

Right... It makes all the sense in the world for Mercedes to literally risk absolutely everything won this year, to secure a championship that either way was already in the bag. If Mercedes plotted this, it would be worse than Piquet in Singapore 2008. Disqualification from the championship, lifetime bans, loss of sponsors, tens of millions of dollars.

But I need to understand that the people peddling this moronic conspiracy theories are anything but rational.

this really sucks you guys even defend Ocon? Ocon is total idiot, not side by side, Max was in front the leader, that the difference but hey if it was Lewis oh my God the end of the World now another Mercedes contract driver knocks out Max in first after being lapped, are kidding? and are you wearing the same stupid trendy gadget glasses as Lewis? This Mercedes contract driver action is even after the race smiling to Max to irritate and nothing sorry, fair play? c'mon. We all have seen today who is the most talented driver on the grid, with 50 less HP and downforce due to accident. Go MAX VER 33.

othing happened but non the less yes Max should calm after a brilliant race for sure he should have won, except GB Lewis narcissist got lucky again in the best car on the grid.
C'mon the French pussy Ocon is provoking Max to the ltd laughing irritating him to the Max everybody could see that. Les misserable to the Max at least, would you not push/punch the M.F.? Oh BTW Lewis the same old boring s..t after every questions to Lewis from the Press, thanks to the team you guys have been amazing, without you i would know what to do thanks, etc more b.s. to follow if you have the stomach, never answers a question but his own ritual, loves himself. Verstappen raced like a champ, acted like a moron. Great restraint from Ocon, even on the wake of physical assault.

Worst thing Ocon was smiling to Max to irritate him now that is unprofessional, just a simple sorry and that is it for Max but Ocon has to put oil on the fire.
He showed that really enjoyed it to destroys Max race, this royal sucks as a Mercedes driver to create an accident with the race leader.
For sure Hamilton the narcissist was so lucky and could not believe his luck he even fell down while jumping into the his overworked & low paid workers.
To make things worst Hamilton told Max that he should have, could have etc to give Ocon more space, holy Pope Lewis and that in the cool down room, LOL you'r a joke.
