Ross Brawn has acknowledged that formula one cars must lose weight. While laptimes are currently impressive, F1 figures including Robert Kubica and Paddy Lowe have said the way the cars have become heavier over the last decade is not positive.
F1 sporting boss Ross Brawn admits: "The weight of the cars will be reduced. The heavier the car, the more it wears out the tyres and consumes the fuel," he told Auto Motor und Sport.
"Given the hybrid technology, it's unrealistic to return to 500kg, but where we are at the moment - 733kg - is too much," Brawn admitted. "It's not that different to sports cars." (GMM)

Not going to happen. After 2023, Its actually going to put on a lot of weight, in the form of Batteries, when F1 is forced to switch to electric ;)
F1/FIA needs a much more innovative vision. All these little tweaks and rules don't make any significant change, which means the sport continues on the path towards one-design.
Just let it go, set some intelligent cadre rules that ensure safety and promote overtaking, maybe even a budget, and let the engineers determine the rest.
There are examples enough around the world of box set rules that lead to fascinating innovation and exciting competition.
And then, if you want to equalise the field you introduce weight handicaps in favour constructor titles while actually creating an "almost" level playing field in which the best driver can shine.
