Ricciardo: "Year off could be good for Kvyat"

Daniil Kvyat can still return to formula one even if he has to sit out 2018. That is the view of the Russian's former Red Bull teammate Daniel Ricciardo. After being dropped by the energy drink company, 23-year-old Kvyat is believed to be only an outside chance of securing the Williams seat for 2018.

Ricciardo told Tass news agency in Baku: "I think if Daniil misses a season, it could even do him good. He is naturally very talented, which I recognised well when we were teammates. He was often very fast," the Australian said.

"He's also still very young and I think still has a chance to prove himself in formula one. He just needs a reboot. In this regard, I am confident that leaving Red Bull will even do him good," Ricciardo added.

  • It could be. He hasnt really been impressive this season, but he hasnt been bad. He certainly need to mature a bit. But I dont think he'll return to the grid any time soon.

There I fixed it for you.

quali score Sainz vs. Kvyat 8-6, that's not bad for Kvyat considering the competition. Probably better than what Wehrlein, DiResta, Kubica and Sirotkin could manage. So why not let Kvyat reboot at Williams, maybe he polishes his race craft so it's on the level of his one-lap-pace when he comes out from under Markos boot.

    • I have to agree; getting away from Marko can only benefit Kyvat.
I think he's a better choice than Stroll, DiResta, Wehrlein, and Sirotkin for sure. On the other hand, Kubica was once a much quicker driver, but is he still?....well who knows for sure.

    • I really hope he is still on the Williams radar although a bit on the side lines for the last few weeks, but i still think he deserves a second chance in another F1 family after red Bull.
As a dutch fan i was excited for Max his promotion but at the same time a felt very sorry for Danyl to lose that RB seat.
So come on Danyl and keep hoping and if not so than also Pascal has my blessing concerning the Williams spot.
