Charles Leclerc will get four FP1 outings later this year with Sauber in anticipation for an expected race seat in 2017. The 19-year-old is currently dominating the Formula 2 championship, leading by a massive 59 points.
The Monegasque racer is a Ferrari junior and has been strongly linked with a Sauber seat for next season after the Hinwil squad confirmed it would continue to run with Ferrari power units. It is expected that either he or fellow Ferrari junior Antonio Giovinazzi will take up a race seat in 2018.
Leclerc is set to run at Malaysia, the United States, Mexico and Brazil. This will not be the first time Leclerc as taken part in an F1 weekend, as he received four outings last season for Haas F1, who also run with Ferrari engines.
