Renault is hoping to come out of the Italian Grand Prix weekend with a strong result, as it is aiming once again for a double points finish. Last time out in Belgium, Nico Hulkenberg crossed the line in sixth place while a grid penalty for Jolyon Palmer hampered his race day after showing pace in qualifying.

Renault has consistently spoken out about the need for two strong drivers, meaning the pressure is on Jolyon Palmer to bring home positive results. Managing director Cyril Abiteboul knows that Monza will put a lot of tension on the Renault power unit, but is hoping the team can finish with two drivers inside the top ten.

"Monza is one of the most demanding races on the engine due to its frequent and prolonged high speed straights and curves; it really is the Temple of Speed," he said. "We have to approach the weekend with a sense of caution as we know the remaining races after this weekend should be more favourable for us. It will be about seeing how we go about this to get the most out of the car. Our aim remains to get both cars in the points to keep gaining ground on the teams above us."

Speaking about the event itself, Abiteboul is looking forward to arriving at Monza to experience the atmosphere created by the Tifosi, Ferrari's notorious fans:  "Monza is a legendary circuit with an electric atmosphere to match and it seems to be a fitting way to end what has been an exciting summer of racing on some of Europe’s finest circuits.

"It will be an exciting weekend for everyone involved in Italy; the fans, the drivers and all the racing staff. We head there with momentum on our side and we look forward to getting out to Monza."

In order to do that, Palmer needs to beat Massa, KMag, Grosjean, Sainz, Alonso, Kvyat, Lance, Pascal. I wouldn't be too sure of that.

Note: kimi, Seb, Ham, Bottas, Hulk, Ocon, Perez, Ric, Ver occupying other top 9 positions.

Palmer's best finish ever was eleventh place, I don't expect any better of him in Monza.
