Sauber will be bringing a new floor to Belgium this weekend in a bid to close in on the cars in front. Sauber started the season in touch with some of the midfield pack, bagging points in Spain and Azerbaijan. However, a lack of development has seen the team fall to the back of the field.
Last time out in Hungary, the team introduced a new cooling system and revised body work, but full-time driver Marcus Ericsson admitted that the upgrades didn't have the effect that was expected. The second part of its aerodynamic upgrade will come into force this weekend at Spa-Francorchamps.
The Hinwil squad will also run with a slightly revised livery, as Additive Industries, a Dutch company specializing in 3D printing and industrial metal processing, gets a special spot on the cars. Sauber's Pascal Wehrlein is looking forward to getting back to the action.
"It’s great to get in the car again after the summer break," he said. "I took some time to reflect on the first part of the season and feel confident returning to the track with a boost of energy. Our first stop will be Spa-Francorchamps – the track is famous for its interesting corners and it is both fun and demanding to drive there. The atmosphere is always great and the fans are incredibly passionate. After that, we will travel to Monza, which is one of the most traditional tracks on the calendar. I can’t wait to start racing again."
