Kvyat pushes to know Toro Rosso 2018 plans

Daniil Kvyat has pushed to know what Toro Rosso have in mind for him for the 2018 season.

Kvyat has been under fire recently due to his erratic driving style that has seen him nicknamed “the torpedo.” But he was thrown a bone by Red Bull team boss Christian Horner who said last week that he saw no reason why Kvyat wouldn’t be retained for 2018.

Kvyat is in an interesting position within the team, as he was demoted last year from the main team, which in some people’s mind meant that he would struggle to continue within the team beyond 2017. But with Carlos Sainz potentially moving to Renault in the immediate future and no real candidates in the Red Bull junior school to replace Kvyat, Toro Rosso may be looking to keep Kvyat to maintain a sense of stability.

But Kvyat has not been told what lies in his future and has been wanting answers from the team to understand his position.

Kvyat said on the subject of his future: "If they have some plans, I want to know about it as soon as possible, because the stage of the season is coming when you really want to know what the future holds. It would be nice to know about it as soon as possible, but I do not see any reason why we cannot continue to cooperate I think they realise that the earlier a driver learns about their future, the more attention they can give to their work,"

Kvyat got the kick at Red Bull for doing excactly the same as he is doing right now in his Torro Rosso. Too aggressive driving style with the result, he's spoiling the race for his teammate and other innocent drivers. Agree with F1DAVE, I wouldn't push to hard if I were Kvyat.

    This is tough.. :-O
I think Red Bull is keeping him in suspense until they sign him again.. Because let´s be honest: Who should they take except Gasly? Are there any more real contenders for this seat? Because at the moment it looks like they have to fill Sainz´s seat from Hungary onwards..

  • He should push now as it is will help him fall off that cliff before the season's out. Yup he is doing the right thing, it's for the good of the sport.
