The FIA has announced that there will be a change is the number of corners around the Red Bull Ring for 2017. F1 viewers have known the track that returned in 2014 to possess nine corners, while MotoGP fans associated it with 10.
This season, Formula 1's governing body has declared that the small bend between Turns 1 and 2 will be classified as a corner, meaning Turn 3 now becomes the corner where Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton clashed in 2016.
The small bend will be called Turn 2, but will, of course, be taken flat out as it has been done up to now. There have also been changes made to the 'baguette' kerbs that last year caused huge debate among drivers after suspension failures came as a result of running over them.
These kerbs will be fitted on the exits of the new Turns 6, 9 and 10, but they will now be 3.2 metres apart. Deeper tyre barriers have also been built at Turns 4, 7 and 8, while there has been an addition of Tecpro barriers around the guardrail at the pit entry.
