Verstappen should "keep quiet" amid rumours

As the driver market hots up, one of the key players emerging is Max Verstappen. The Dutchman currently races or Red Bull, but is supposedly disgruntled at the fact that he hasn't been given a championship winning car this season.

Despite being just 19-years-old, Verstappen has taken a victory in Formula 1, coming at his maiden race for the Red Bull outfit back in Spain of 2016. Verstappen also cast doubt over Red Bull's prospects for 2018, meaning he may be eyeing a move away from the team.

"For Max it's too early to worry," said Verstappen's Dutch countryman Giedo van der Garde, himself a former F1 driver. "Of course, as a driver you always want to have the best car you can, but I think that of all the current teams, Red Bull has made the most progress," he is quoted by the newspaper De Telegraaf.

"And Renault is not standing still either," van der Garde continued. "I understand Max's frustration after a race such as Canada, but I still expect Red Bull to have a very good car next year."

"Remember that they (Red Bull) put him into F1. His time will come. Red Bull also know that Max is a super talent and it's in their interest to provide him with the best possible car as quickly as possible."

Verstappen has not been shying away from his so far disappointing season and has on a few occasions questioned the team and the car. Van der Garde believes that Verstappen should keep quiet about the situation.

"I wish he would just keep quiet. Seeing the races, he's just fed up and says things out of frustration, which I understand. He wants to win races so it's even good to see. He just speaks his heart."

Why should some one keep quiet if he just speaks his heart. It spices up things and makes Red Bull and Renault allert they have to move on to keep thier talented drivers at RB.

Is it just me or has he kind of gone backwards since his debut? To score a victory on your maiden run is astounding but is there only one trajectory after that? I remember last year every race featured some of Max's now signature overtaking moves but he seems to have gone quiet on that front lately and now he seems to be afflicted by the all-too-familiar F1 curse of blaming the equipment. Don't get me wrong, F1 needs a talent like Max but he needs to show it a bit more often these days instead of becoming just another grumpy pilot..

  I dont really think thats a fair assessment. Last year's Red Bull were competing with other cars, this RB is pretty much in a limbo, too competitive for the rest, too weak to get in touch with Ferrari and Mercedes. So it has been a RB vs RB battle, and in that sense he has been successful as far as Im aware. The only real way to see whether he has improved or not would be for RB to get some competition, for better or worse for them.
