Pascal Wehrlein has been handed a five-place grid penalty for the Canadian Grand Prix after his car had to have a gearbox change. Wehrlein placed a tyre on the grass on the entry to turn one in yesterday's qualifying, spinning him rearwards into the barriers.
Wehrlein was due to start at the back of the field anyway, however, the crash had a further impact on the car. Sauber brought a new rear wing to run on the car this weekend, but it got damaged in the crash. Therefore, the German will resort to the old rear wing,
Sorry for the team as I touched the grass and spun into the barrier. Tomorrow is a new day - let's make the best out of it! @SauberF1Team pic.twitter.com/3ZZPxuiZMe

He is a bit incosistent, isnt he? Could be down to pushing too hard though. Wouldnt surprise me if he is stressed out by the insecurity of his current deal with Sauber, looks like he is set to be axed in favour of a Honda sponsored driver, and he is probably trying to show off how good he is so he can get a deal somewhere else. Would be unfortunate if he were to go though, he is promising. And I like that he apologized to the engineers, it wasnt necessary, but its definitely a good gesture.
