Sebastian Vettel had to settle for P2 in Canada, as the German couldn't match the blistering pace of rival Lewis Hamilton. Vettel set a rapid lap time of 1:11.789, but it was only good enough for the second spot on the first row.
"I wasn't so happy with the last run I had in quali," said Vettel. "I would have loved to repeat the second run and just find a little bit [of time]. I probably pushed a little bit too hard, lost it a bit here [at Turn 1], at Turn 2, and then I tried a bit of catch up, to catch up the lap time."
"It was a good qualifying session," he said. "I was getting better at the end, in the beginning, was struggling to find the rhythm, but it was a great atmosphere, with people cheering."
Nevertheless, Vettel thinks that Ferrari has the pace to take victory tomorrow. He will have tough competition against Hamilton, who is a five-time winner around the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, whereas Vettel has taken victory just once.
