Sebastian Vettel says he can't waste time focusing on whether or not he will become a five-time world champion by the end of the year. The German currently leads the driver standings by 25 points after the sixth round of the world championship.
Vettel hasn't led a championship since 2013 in the year he dominated with Red Bull, taking a sensational 13 victories - something that wasn't even matched by a single driver in the three years that Mercedes dominated the sport. The 29-year-old says there is still a long way to go.
"I will try at least until the summer break not to look too much at a position that does not make any sense. There is such a long way to go. I just do my best every time and it does not take a genius to know that if you win every race, you'll win the title," Speed Week quotes the German.
"We can not relax. If a podium place is the maximum possible result, we will focus on that. We have a chance to win, then we go for the win. I will not spoil the joy of this moment by posturing about the position and number of points."
