Tens of thousands of people flooded into Zandvoort over the weekend to have fun at Jumbo Race Days. Max Verstappen took to the track four times on a demonstration run and even broke the lap record, going three-tenths of a second quicker than previous owner Luca Badoer.
When asked what it was like to break another record, the answer was easy for the 19-year-old: "They had screwed on a new set of tyres and then I thought I'll give it a try. The new asphalt definitely helped. The circuit was less bumpy and the grip level has improved. It was nice to break a track record."
Verstappen looks back with satisfaction on his weekend spent at Jumbo Race days: "The racing is extremely popular in the Netherlands and it's nice that I can contribute my bit. I really enjoyed last weekend."
Verstappen will be returning to racing once again this weekend, as Formula 1 heads to Monaco. The track hasn't boded well for Verstappen over the two years he's raced there, crashing out of both events.
