Kimi Raikkonen ended Mercedes' Barcelona streak of fastest times in practice, as the Finn set a 1:20.214 to go top of the timesheets. He was two and a half tenths ahead of his teammate Sebastian Vettel, making it a Ferrari one-two.
Mercedes had a tricky session, in the case of Valtteri Bottas. Russia's race winner was only able to leave the garage minutes from the chequered flag due to a power unit issue. However, he slotted into P4, behind teammate Lewis Hamilton who was four-tenths down on pace-setter Raikkonen.
Max Verstappen ended the session in fifth and was one place ahead of his teammate Daniel Ricciardo. Red Bull will be hoping to be closer to Mercedes and Ferrari come qualifying in a heavily upgraded RB13.
There was little between Nico Hulkenberg and Felipe Massa who ended up seventh and eighth, while the two local heroes of Carlos Sainz and Fernando Alonso completed the top 10.
