Lance Stroll's Grand Prix ended in the one way he didn't want it to today - in retirement. A non-points finish would have been more satisfying, as three races into his Formula 1 career, he has failed to see the chequered flag.
Stroll was cornering for turn one when he was hit by the Toro Rosso of Carlos Sainz who was leaving the pits. The stewards analysed the incident and Sainz will be demoted three places from his qualifying position in two weeks in Russia.
"I saw Sainz coming out of the pitlane, I was 50 or 60 metres in front of him in the braking zone, and was already turning in and he drove into my side. There is not much else to say, as I have just seen the video and it was ridiculous."
The Canadian is waiting for his luck to turn amid what has been a tough beginning to his career at motorsport's pinnacle. He admits that he realises there is plenty of races to prove himself worthy.
"I think the race wasn’t going badly. I had a bad start and lost a couple of positions, but boxed early and had a really good beginning to the stint on the soft tyres. I am just disappointed and hope my luck turns round sometime soon. I can be frustrated, but it won’t get me anywhere. On the bright side there are many races to go."

Sainz is punished for it. Stroll has to prove himself again in Russia.

Stroll could have avoid it, didn't expect Sainz because he lacks experience....Stroll can't handle all the input at that moment, doesn't anticipate enough: could have taken the corner wider...that would have been wiser...
