Lost time frustrated Grosjean in China

Haas F1's Romain Grosjean has said that he was left very frustrated, particularly by the Sauber duo in front of him, after he lost time early in the Chinese Grand Prix which he struggled to make up.

Prior to the race, the Frenchman had already been handed a grid penalty for failing to slow when Antonio Giovinazzi crashed ahead of him in Q1, much to his disgust. The Italian then caused Grosjean further problems on Sunday when he lost more ground after the Sauber hit the wall again on lap 4.

The safety car restart saw Grosjean behind Giovinazzi's team-mate Marcus Ericsson, and he later complained that the Swede had been too far away from the car ahead, therefore slowing him up: "Yesterday (Saturday) was a bit of a joke and in the race the same guy crashed in front of me on the straight line, so I had to stop," he said. "I lost a lot of time.

"Then Ericsson at the restart left miles ahead of the car in front of me. I don't know what he was doing, so I was already on the back foot. Ocon pushed me on the first lap. I lost half of the right-hand side of the car. From there I just pushed as hard as I could.

"I had some good lap times. We were doing a decent job, but it was already too late. It was not easy on strategy. The guys did the best job they could."
