Sebastian Vettel was pleased with his recovery following a difficult start to the Chinese Grand Prix as he fell foul of the safety car. Vettel had just bolted on the slick tyres when the safety car came out which meant that Vettel could not go about hunting down Hamilton and also lost positions.

"The safety car came just when I was about to start to feel that the dry tyres were a lot quicker so I couldn't use the momentum, the advantage and obviously lost a lot of positions,"

He was stuck behind Ricciardo and Raikkonen for what seemed like an age, however, he pulled off an audacious move on the Australian after doing the same to his team-mate a couple of laps earlier.

"I had a really exciting race, I enjoyed it. I was stuck a little bit in the train for a while but finally made a move and then tried to chase Lewis down as much as possible but every time I put a lap in he was able to respond,"

Despite his inability to catch Lewis Hamilton, the Mercedes and Ferrari look well-matched and fans can look forward to a tight battle between the two teams.

"I think we were a good match, it could have been a different race but yeah good recovery".

  • He really was slowed down by Kimi here. Was a bit disappointed by how Kimi didnt even seem to try to overtake Ricciardo, and in the meantime slowed down Vettel. Ferrari looked very fast this race again, but its things like these Mercedes and Red Bull will gladly feast on.
