Team boss at Ferrari Maurizio Arrivabene admits that he will not open contract talks early in the season, as he feels it will distract their drivers as they prepare to mount a title challenge to Mercedes.
Both Sebastian Vettel's and Kimi Raikkonen's contract expires at the end of this season. with Vettel being linked to a spot at Mercedes while Raikkonen's retirement rumours are sure to continue.
Mercedes signed Bottas ahead of the 2017 season on a one-year deal, with the Silver Arrows revealing they are keeping all their options open for 2018. Arrivabene spoke at last week's Grand Prix in Australia about the situation.
"Talking about contracts now is only distracting the attention of our drivers, so I’m not ready to talk about any contracts," Arrivabene said. "Then, I would like to see Sebastian happy during the season, because if Sebastian is happy, that means the car is very quick."
