Lewis Hamilton has come out on top in free practice two, making it a clean sweep from Friday as the Brit was also fastest in the morning session. He set a lap time of 1:23.620, suggesting the all time Albert Park lap record could be broken this weekend.
Hamilton was ahead of Vettel's Ferarri by just under half a second, The other Mercedes of Valtteri Bottas was P3, in front of compatriot Kimi Raikkonen.
Red Bull completed the top six once again, with the team mirroring their result from free practice one: Ricciardo fifth, Verstappen sixth. The Dutchman had a big off at turn twelve and went flying through the gravel, but managed to keep going. Carlos Sainz in the Toro Rosso placed his car in a solid seventh position.
Romain Grosjean was eighth, with the Frenchman locking up quite a number of times in the session. He too left some marks in the gravel, but like Verstappen was able to keep running. Nico Hulkenberg was ninth, with the top ten being completed by Daniil Kvyat.
Eleventh saw the pink Force India of Sergio Perez, and McLaren will be quite encouraged to see their driver Fernando Alonso in twelfth after the woeful pre-season test they suffered. Esteban Ocon trailed the McLaren, placing his car in thirteenth.
Felipe Massa was fourteenth, only completing six laps as he was forced to park his car trackside with an apparent gearbox issue. He was ahead of the Sauber of Marcus Ericsson, who also ran into trouble in the latter stages of the session, spinning into the gravel at turn 6.
Lance Stroll was sixteenth, followed by Stoffel Vandoorne who completed 33 laps in the so-far unreliable McLaren. Pascal Wehrlein was eighteenth. Magnussen's Haas hit an unknown issue and limited his running to a very minimum.
Rounding out the timesheets was Jolyon Palmer, who crashed into the barrier at the final corner, losing the rear of the car on acceleration.
