McLaren hope to rectify problems by Australia

McLaren team boss Eric Boullier is hopeful that the team can improve by Australia, after their woes in winter testing in Barcelona. The engine in the MCL32 was changed at least seven times during the eight days of testing.

Before the lunch break on the final day, Alonso grounded to a halt twice on the side of the track. The team had planned to host a press conference with Yusuke Hasegawa of Honda but it was eventually cancelled.

"We would have liked the final day to have ended in a different way," said Boullier. "The electrical problems on Thursday held and therefore it was necessary to make adjustments to the car to find out what the problems were."

Eric Boullier also acknowledged the problems but said testing during the last two weeks have allowed them to know the car better and they know what problems need to be addressed: "These are not problems you solve in a day, but we have the hope drawn to McLaren and Honda in the next two weeks to know to make progress," he says.

Poor old Eric. He cannot have foreseen was was ahead when he was poached by McLaren. Hope they pay him well - he deserves it.
