Stoffel Vandoorne has said that he hasn't been told if the team are changing up the test programme in light of the early problems they're suffering from in Barcelona.

On the first day of testing, the McLaren hit trouble as the team where forced to perform a power unit change due to an oil system problem, leaving Fernando Alonso on the side for most of the day. Racing director Eric Boullier said that the test schedule could possibly be tweaked due to the Spaniard's lack of laps.

However, on the second day of testing, with the car at the hands of Vandoorne, the car ran into similar problems signalling a nightmare start for the Woking based team.

It is believed Honda only brought three engines to Barcelona, so it is now rushing to fly in another unit from Japan.

Asked if the test programme will have to be modified, Vandoorne said in Barcelona: "We have not discussed this, so I assume we will stick to the original plan.

"Everyone is working their hardest," he insisted. "We are professionals and know how to make the most of the time that we have to prepare. This is only the second test day as well, so there is no reason to give up hope."

When asked about the current relationship with team mate Alonso, Vandoorne answered: "So far we are getting along very well. We are both working together to put the team back on the road to success."
