Kevin Magnussen thinks that his new team Haas will benefit from having two experienced drivers in their team next season. Magnussen moves from Renault to Haas to compete in his third season in F1.

His team mate will be Romain Grosjean who will start his sixth full season of F1 and his second for the American team. Both drivers are podium finishers and Magnussen is happy that he has an experienced team mate for 2017.

Magnussen's previous two team mates have varied in experience with Jenson Button in 2014, the joint second most experienced driver of all time in terms of races entered and Jolyon Palmer in 2016 who was a rookie.

Magnussen said: “I prefer to have an experienced teammate. It’s good for the team but it’s also good for me, to have someone that I can really learn from. I  learned from Jolyon last year, but I’m sure from Romain I will learn more because he’s an extremely fast racing driver. Jolyon is fast as well, but Romain is very experienced.”

The Dane is excited to work alongside Grosjean and hopes for a close battle throughout the year and thinks they will learn a lot from each other.

“I think it’s important to be competitive with each other. I don’t think it’s good for a team that one driver is just having all the points and doing all the work,” Magnussen said. "It’s good to have two drivers that are quite close. That’s the best way to learn.

“If you have someone who is close to you, for sure he will do some things better than you. If it’s even, you’ll be doing different things good so you can learn from each other. That’s what you need in a team.”
