Haas hoping to replicate 2016 debut

Haas F1 are hoping to repeat the impressive start they made last season in the forthcoming one. The American team bagged a sixth place on their debut at the Australian Grand Prix, going one better by claiming fifth at Bahrain at the very next race.

Team principal Guenther Steiner is hoping that they can replicate the results in 2017:  “Yeah, absolutely. We will try to do what we did last year but better and hopefully we can have the same if not a better result. To be honest it will be very difficult – I’m aware of that – but if you don’t try then you don’t get.”

Haas used a lot of assistance last year from Ferrari, who allowed them to use their wind tunnel and power units, while Dallara designed the car's chassis. Although they are relying more on themselves this year, Steiner admits not much will change.

“No, it’s very similar to last year, very similar. I would go back to last year and point out that what we did for the first time actually worked very well. Everybody did what they said what they were going to do.

We are just making little adjustments; we want to make our lives easier and better but we are just replicating some things we did last year. I hope it gets smoother and more efficient than last year because we have got a year under our belt with our partners.”

i hope for them they are going to succeed. But let´s be honest: I can´t quite believe they´ll do.. There are still McLaren and Renault in the midfield plus Force India. Surely it´d be good if Ferrari got some good ideas concerning new regulations but i´m afraid they´re coming from RedBull, McLaren, Renault and Mercedes rather than from Ferrari. :-0
