GP2 champion Pierre Gasly has confirmed he will be racing in Super Formula in 2017.
Frenchman Gasly will follow in the footsteps of Stoffel Vandoorne who took a year in the Japanese series before securing a race seat in F1.
Gasly was tipped for a seat at Toro Rosso in 2017 but was snubbed, with the Red Bull junior team deciding to retain Daniil Kvyat for one more year.
Despite the disappointment of losing out on a seat, the 20 year old went on to beat Prema team mate Antonio Giovinazzi for the GP2 title at Abu Dhabi.
