Two time world champion Mika Hakkinen has said that fellow Finn Valtteri Bottas has a glorious opportunity at Mercedes.

Bottas is emerging as the favourite to replace Nico Rosberg who retired five days after becoming world champion.

Hakkinen has called it a dream opportunity for Bottas to show flex his muscles and show the community what he can do.

"The situation cannot be better from the driver's side that you are wanted by the team," Häkkinen said "Especially with a team which has dominated Formula One, [such as] Mercedes. This is a dream situation."

"When you get to the team, which is on top of the mountain, and which is able to win championships and races, then it's up to you to develop, to take wins and the championship."

When asked whether he felt Bottas was capable of winning the championship, he replied, "Yes, I can see it."

Forget it. Not with Lewis as his teammate. He even had trouble handling Massa.

  • It'd certainly be interesting seeing him go up against Hamilton.
