Sebastian Vettel not happy with Max Verstappen in Brazil

Published on 14 Nov 2016 10:20

Sebastian Vettel has hit out at Max Verstappen's driving in the Brazilian Grand Prix.

That is despite the teenager being voted driver of the day for his drive to third.

"I think I was racing him side-by-side, he saw me, I still had a little bit of my nose ahead," Vettel said after the race. "He was much faster so it was about the corner where you get past. I don’t think it was correct."

Vettel finished the Grand Prix in fifth place, a result he was pleased with after spinning early in the race.

"Obviously it was not ideal in the first part to spin," he said. “I had some aquaplaning but I wasn’t the only one. I think it was a good recovery in the end, difficult to come back. I struggled to get past Carlos, I don’t know why it took a lot of laps but by then it was too late."

"It could have been anything today. I wasn’t the only one to get caught out by the aquaplaning but luckily I didn’t crash."

Nothing to see here, according to the stewards. Less whinging and more driving required I think Sebastian.

yes, and please forget that Vettel pushed Alonso (if I am correct) from the track in the same corner..

I didnt have a problem with this, it was a racing incident on a drenched track, no collision or really forcing Vettel off the track. Yeah, it ruined Vettel's chances, but if anyone is to blame it is Ferrari for not making the right strategy or a more balanced car.

Moaning Seb...only moaning. He is a mediocre driver in the rain...won championships only because he had the better car...Raikkonen shows that he is a better driver then Seb!

To be honest with you:

Rosberg was penalised for exactly the same thing in hockenheim, germany. So A) Vettel should´ve been penalized (because of his alonso move) and verstappen as well because of his vettel move...

There is rather a big difference between overtaking a car at high speed (and certainly in rainy conditions) or at low speed not turning the steering wheel at all (not just Hockenheim but Austria as well). If you want to penalize a driver in situations like in Brazil, then we can go back to all those previous races and penalize everyone who did exactly what Vettel and Verstappen did. There are dozens of those incidents and rarely have they been penalized (even Vettel should not have been penalized in Silverstone). In short: there's a big difference between fully intentionally and unnecessary ramming someone off the track and making a clean overtaking pass without even touching each other.

I suspect the stewards were making some allowances for the conditions this time round.
