Nico Rosberg became Formula One world champion for the first time on Sunday, continuing Mercedes' reign at the top of Formula One.

Here's a breakdown of Rosberg's championship, in numbers.

1 - This was Rosberg's first world championship, and the first time he has finished higher than Lewis Hamilton in the championship since the pair became team mates in 2013.

2 - The number of father-son world champions. Graham Hill won the championship twice, in 1962 and 1968, before his son Damon triumphed in 1996. Rosberg now follows in the footsteps of his father Keke who won the title in 1982, despite only winning one race.

3 - The number of German world champions following Rosberg's win. There were none when he was born in 1985. Rosberg is also Mercedes' third champion after Juan Manuel Fangio and Lewis Hamilton, and he is also the third driver to win a title decider at Yas Marina Circuit in eight visits to Abu Dhabi.

9 - The number of wins Rosberg took in 2016. Since his first win in 2012, he has gone on to take more wins each season. 10 victories in 2017, then?

11 - The number of seasons Rosberg raced in Formula One before winning the championship

13 - The number of laps Rosberg spent outside the top 10

33 - Rosberg was Formula One's 33rd champion.

50 - The percentage of the last 10 championships won by a German driver (Vettel 2010-13, Rosberg 2016)

75 - The percentage of laps in the 2016 Rosberg spent inside the top three - 957 out of 1268.
