Jolyon Palmer has admitted that he is finding his time in Formula One difficult with his future on the line.
The 2014 GP2 champion's seat at the Anglo-French team is currently under threat, with Nico Hulkenberg already signed for 2017, and Esteban Ocon, Valtteri Bottas, Daniil Kvyat, and team mate Kevin Magnussen all in the frame for the other seat.
Palmer has only managed to score one point so far this season, and he has said that his uncertain future is making his life on track hard.
"It's difficult with the pressure because we've got to show what we can do, to try and show the bosses," he told Autosport. "You can't make any mistakes, but you can't be too safe either or you're too slow, so it's a compromise."
"Without the pressure that your career's on the line, it's probably a little bit easier," he added. "Without pressure everything is kind of second nature, whereas for us there's occasionally an element of tightening up.
"It would be nice to be a little bit more relaxed," said the son of former Formula One driver Jonathan Palmer. "There's always pressure in F1, but to know your career is on the line, it feels like every second that passes."
