Scott Speed has won the Red Bull Global Rallycross championship for the second time.
The American, who raced in Formula One in 2006-07 for Toro Rosso, has raced in the series full-time since 2013, after a brief foray in NASCAR.
The Californian beat Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross team mate, two-time champion and record race winner Tanner Foust.
The final event of the year was a double header event in Los Angeles. Speed triumphed on the first day ahead of Foust and former NASCAR driver Steve Arpin.
Whoever out of Speed and Foust finished in front on the final day of the event would be crowned champion, and Speed took second place behind race winner Brian Deegan, while Foust had to settle for fourth behind former Junior World Rally champion Patrik Sandell.
"GRC has given us an incredible series to race in," said Speed after claiming his second consecutive title in the championship. "The series is growing tremendously, and I just feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to drive for the first time in Brazil three years ago."
"It feels like just yesterday, but what a ride from that point to where we are now! We’re on the map, we’re a legitimate racing series in this country, and it just feels good to have been part of it from the beginning," he added.
Speed's Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross team also clinched the manufacturers' crown last month, ending Ford's unbeaten run in the series.
