James Allison has turned down the chance to return to Renault.
The Brit has spent three spells at the Enstone team in the past as a junior designer, head of aerodynamics and technical director, and was linked with another return after he left Ferrari earlier this year following the death of his wife which left him with a desire to return to the UK.
Renault made an approach to the engineer during the summer but fears over the team's management led to Allison rejecting the offer. Coincidentally, it is believed that similar reasons prevented Sergio Perez reject a move to the team.
Allison is said to be still keen to return to Formula One, and has been linked with a switch to McLaren.
