Nico Rosberg continued to hold the advantage over Mercedes team mate Lewis Hamilton in second practice, although this time the Brit had closed the gap to a mere 0.072 seconds.
Early on in the session it looks as though Rosberg may encounter an engine problem as smoke appeared to rise from his car. However, the smoke soon cleared and there were no problems from then on.
Kimi Raikkonen took third, three tenths of a second back from Rosberg, with Max Verstappen splitting the Ferraris a further half a second back.
Segio Perez and Nico Hulkenberg again stuck together in sixth and seventh, with Fernando Alonso and Valtteri Bottas in eighth and ninth.
Carlos Sainz rounded out the top 10, one spot ahead of Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo.
Unlike first practice, there were no crashes, although Daniil Kvyat did manage to spin at the final turn on his way to finishing the session down in 14th.
