Nico Rosberg has followed on from his win in Malaysia last weekend by topping the opening practice session for the Japanese Grand Prix.
The Mercedes driver lapped the Suzuka Circuit in One minutes, 32.431 seconds, two tenths of a second faster than team mate Lewis Hamilton.
Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel was third, ahead of team mate Kimi Raikkonen and both Red Bull drivers.
Force India duo Nico Hulkenberg and Sergio Perez made it two-by-two for the top eight, while Fernando Alonso, who spun and tagged the wall at Spoon, damaging his rear wing. Valtteri Bottas completed the top ten.
Romain Grosjean once again suffered what appeared to be brake failure during the session, flying off the road at Degner.
