The organisers of the Belgian Grand Prix have revealed that general ticket sales are up from last year by 25%. Analyst believe that the rise of Max Verstappen is the reason behind the impressive increase.
Verstappen has made a promising start to his F1 career, grabbing the attention of many people, notably for his overtaking moves and maiden win earlier this year in Spain.
This news will certainly give a headache to the likes of Bernie Ecclestone, who has repeatedly threatened to pull the plug on some of the European Circuits.
Although Verstappen participated in Formula 1 during 2015, he was however in the Toro Rosso - which coincidentally was not a podium-worthy car. Whereas this year, he is in a fringe winning team - Red Bull Racing, which no doubt adding to his stardom and therefore contributed to increase in ticket sales, along with the fact that he was born an hour away from the Circuit Deschamps
The organizers of the GP also said that a further 9,000 tickets were sold just last night, after the Dutchman had topped Free Practice 2.
