Force India deputy principal Bob Fernley has stated that he is aware of the danger of losing their two drivers Sergio Perez and Nico Hulkenberg in the future.
The Mexican and the German have been at the team since 2014 and have established a solid working environment at Force India. Hulkenberg himself said that he would be driving for Force India in 2017, but the future of his team-mate is still unclear.
While personal within the team have spoken about Perez staying, there has been no official confirmation from Force India or Perez himself. Bob Fernley understands why his two drivers are in demand.
“Whenever you give Checo an opportunity for a podium, he takes it," he said.
"Over the last three years with us, his progression has been remarkable and he has settled in to be a real contender. Nico always delivers solid performances, but this year it is difficult to answer where his luck has gone."
"But it doesn't matter, his head never goes down, he continues to fight all the time and he pulls off good results. Checo is on the verge, as is Nico, of maybe going to one of the championship-potential teams."
"We would be the first to wish them well. But what we don't want to see either of them do is make a sideways move."
