Fernando Alonso has stated that if he and Lewis Hamilton were paired as team-mates now, it would be a very different experience from last time.
Alonso and Hamilton were team-mates for the 2007 Formula One season, both driving for McLaren. In a season that was hugely controversial for the Woking-based team, the two drivers had an intense rivalry which forced Alonso to quit the team after the season had ended.
However he now believes that if they were to be team-mates again, there would be a very different team atmosphere.
"I think it would be different," he said. "I'm more mature, he's more mature. The teams now are, in a way, more prepared for all the situations.
"If I was teammate of Lewis one day I think it would be very different, because we have learned and we are very different people. We no longer have that ... let's say that stress of winning on the side because I think we respect each other a lot.
"Everyone respects us a lot and we would drive as fast as we can but with another level of respect."
