Romain Grosjean has said that he is more than happy to drive another year for the Haas F1 team if it means an increased chance at a permanent Ferrari seat in the future.
The Frenchman has re-shaped his reputation after a disastrous 2012 season and is now longing to take a seat at the coveted Ferrari team. Grosjean left Lotus at the end of 2015 to join newcomers Haas which is heavily linked with Ferrari technically.
He was hoping for a Ferrari seat for 2017 but will now have to bide his time and wait for a 2018 opportunity to come knocking on his door.
“I'm sure there's a reason behind the decision [to keep Raikkonen],” Grosjean said. “With the new regulations, big changes, you kind of want to keep the same driver line-up.
"On the other hand, I am pretty happy here. We are doing a great job and I really want to put Haas on the podium at one point. There's some work to do to achieve that, but who knows? Everything is possible.”
