Renault is looking to sign Sergio Perez for 2017 before the next race in Belgium.
Autosport reports that Perez's significant financial backing, and his desire to race for a manufacturer backed team make the prospect a viable one for both sides.
The Mexican was reportedly unhappy with Force India team Principal declaring that Perez was secured for the team for next year.
While he does have a contract with Force India for 2017, he is understood to have kept his options open as he aims to be Mexico's first Formula One world champion.
Renault are thought to be keen to partner reserve driver Esteban Ocon with Perez, should the deal go through.
However, there are concerns that pairing Ocon with either of the team's current drivers, Kevin Magnussen and Jolyon Palmer, would not give the team a strong enough driver lineup
