Ricciardo: "Two weekends in a row I've been screwed"

Daniel Ricciardo left Monaco late on Sunday declaring he could not wait to "get the hell out of here". The Australian, who started the wet-dry race on the Principality's fabled streets from pole, was absolutely livid at having been beaten by world champion Lewis Hamilton. "It hurts. I'm not sure where to go from here, what to do," the normally-chirpy and grinning Red Bull driver said.

Ricciardo had already been angry after Barcelona, when his seemingly superior three-stop strategy actually handed victory to teammate Max Verstappen. This time, it was a bungled pitstop - which saw him waiting stationary for a set of tyres - that cost him the win. Ricciardo says he was "screwed" by the team both times.

"It's two weekends in a row I've been screwed now," he said. "Two races in a row, two races in a row. That's all I can say. I took Barcelona on the chin, but two in a row? And especially here at Monaco. I told them (the team) after the race that nothing they can say will make me feel better." Indeed, on the radio after the chequered flag, Ricciardo had growled: "Nothing you can say can make it any better. Just save it."

For the record, team boss Christian Horner said it was a miscommunication based on the fact that the pitwall at Monaco is actually upstairs above the garage. Dr Helmut Marko called it a "human mistake", and apologised. (GMM)

Really dont get all the fuzz about Max. Really what has he shown. Yeeah he made some spectacular overtakes, but when approx you get 20% of them wrong and end up in the barrier or taking someone out,- is it really worth it. barcelona is to be seen different, i think.. They had to react on vettels aggressive strategy..

but anyways i think montreal is going to bring merc and ferrari fighting for victory except they screw up like in china (vet&rai) and spain (ros&ham) ..

Monaco was a blunder of the team.
In Barcelona he had 2 problems, the degredation of his tires and the other strategy of Vettel. The team chose for Ricciardo, because Max was faster at that time.

  BS Ricciardo was faster through at all points in Spain. He lost out in the strategy gamble RBR decided to take unilaterally. The team screwed up again albeit not deliberately in Monaco. Hype boy Max crashed 3 times, not once, not twice, trololo 3 times!, I like to see how the fanboys spin this one XD. Ricciardo made Max look like peasant I mean really how awful can someone get? For a minute I thought Crashtor Meglonado was in that cockpit.
  
  All that said I don't have much sympathies for Ricciardo, this should be a lesson in karam or what goes around comes around or whatever, he stole two wins this way in 2014 from Vettel. So yeah let him get a dose of the same bad luck which netted him two wins in the past.

  MCLARENFAN1968, there is no driver who has never crashed, Verstappen took maybe to many risks, but this was the only way to get to the front. Nevertheless he will be back and is a major talent. Ricciardo at the other hand had this race all reasons to be pissed. Barcelona therefore was a logical reaction on Vetels strategy.

Now hes crashed 4 times on two visits to Monaco, last year ending Grosjeans race, spinning Sainz this year crashing 3 times in Monaco this yeah. Im not impressed. Only beat Sainz last year because he didnt have the same amount of bad luck.

  @BLOKKIE, LOL that the best spin you fanboys do?! Not that I was expecting anything better. He crashed two years in a row! LMAO. This time he crashed in 3 separate sessions. Never seen anyone this hopeless.

  Gotta agree with @MCLARENFAN1968, Far too much hype with Verstappen. He won Barcelona due to strategy, I truly believe RBR wanted just another record for the books, and RIC knows this! Verstappen is the new Maldonado I'm afraid, I still think Magnussen is a far better driver and they hype should be with him. Rookie season with McLaren and he scored a podium in the first race and kept Button at bay in many races, dropped for 2015, came back in 2016 with a really inferior car and still drives superbly!

  I agree Vet5, Magnussen is truly praiseworthy. Same applies for Wehrlein, has done a pretty good job so far (though abit on the incident-heavy side), and honestly Haryanto has also done a good job. A bit disappointed in Palmer, not sure we can blame all of this on the car anymore...

Very painful to watch. Ricciardo deserved the win so much, but Red Bull messed the strategy up again. It feels like Hamilton one this race just by pure luck, RB messing up, Rosberg's brake failure and so on. I guess he deserved it after all the pure bad luck he's had so far...
