According the the Italian Autosprint magazine,
Kamui Kobayashi has signed a deal to race with the Caterham Formula 1 Team in 2014, with the Frenchman
Charles Pic moving to
Lotus as their Reserve Driver. Although, no official announcement has been made.
The Japanese driver first raced with
Toyota in 2009, before moving to a three-year stint with the Swiss
Sauber outfit. He was, however dropped for 2013 in favour of the Mexican,
Esteban Gutierrez.
After failing to secure a drive, Kamui raced with
Ferrari in the FIA World Endurance Championship and finished 5th in the GTE-Pro class at Le Mans.
The news comes as no surprise due to Caterham stating that they had wished to have at least "one experienced driver" on-board for 2014. Their second driver is yet to be announced, with the Swedish
Marcus Ericsson and Dutch
Giedo van der Garde both likely candidates for the seat.
Caterham are due to launch the CT-04 on the 28th at the first pre-season test in Jerez.
